KANNUR, Kerala: Refuting charges by CPI-M controlled Pariyaram Medical College Hospital governing body accusing him of large scale irregularities in managing the institution, former Chairman of the Academy of Medical Sciences, which managed the College, M V Raghavan today dared LDF government to take action against him for such irregularities.

"If I am held responsible for the serious financial crisis of the Medical College, why are they shying away from taking action against me?" Raghavan, asked at a press conference here.

Raghavan's poser comes after T K Govindan, Chairman of the CPI-M controlled Pariyaram Medical College governing body recently accused the former of indulging in irregularities leading to a Rs 331 crore accumulated lose.

The CPI-M should clarify its stand on the mounting debt burden despite accruing additional revenue by running various medical and para medical courses after it came to power, Raghavan said. "The new governing body could initiate action against me if I am found to have involved in irregularities and I dare them do so," Raghavan said.

The administrative body led by Raghavan was removed on technical grounds paving way for CPI-M led LDF government to take charge of the administration on February 10, 1997 as the College availed loans to the tune of Rs 108 crore from various financial agencies, Raghavan said.
