Large-scale Maoist attacks reported

Hyderabad/Patna/Rourkela, India: Maoist violence and abduction, including the kidnapping of a Congress leader in Visakhpatnam district, were reported from various parts of the country on Sunday.
District Superintendent of Police Vineet Brijlal said that four armed persons came to Solabu village, about 120 km from the port city of Visakhpatnam, and abducted local Congress leader Somaiah (who goes by one name).
Maoists blew up a railway track at a point 183 km east of Patna on the Howrah-New Delhi main line. The red brigade killed a suspected police informer, Sukura Oram, on Saturday night in Sundargarh district, about 400 km west of Bhubaneswar. 0 (0) |
