Palakkad to be first fully electrified district

PALAKKAD, Kerala: Palakkad will be declared the first fully electrified district in the country by Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at Ottapalm on February 16.
The public meeting to declare the district as fully electrified will be inaugurated by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan.
Kerala State Electricity Board has drawn a 12 km long power line to take electricity to the tribal hamlets of Moolagangal, Vechupathy and Vellamkulam in Attappady Block. Power connection was also provided to remote tribal areas of Parambikualm forest like Kadar Colony, Earth Dam and PAP Colony, incurring huge expenses. The total electrification helped provide quality and uninterrupted power to Kanjikode industrial belt where the new BEML factory is coming up. It will also help provide power to the proposed Rail Coach Factory at Kanjikode, the government release here on Friday said. The function will be attended by State Electricity Minister A.K. Balan, Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaaq, Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran, P.W.D. Minister P.J. Joseph, Transport Minister Jose Thettayil, Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammedkutty and Water Resources Minister M.K. Premachandran. 0 (0) |
