Film fraternity bids adieu to Cochin Haneefa

KOCHI, Kerala: Actor Cochin Haneefa, who died yesterday in Chennai, was interred at the Central Juma Masjid at Broadway in the district with full state honours. People from many walks of life paid homage to the actor.


A heavy rush was witnessed at the actor’s residence and at the Ambedkar Stadium. All actors from the Malayalam film world came to pay homage to the actor. Ministers Jose Thettayil, Elamaram Karim and many dignitaries from various fields paid homage.

Haneefa is survived by his wife Fazila and twin daughters Safa and Marwa.

The actor introduced in films by Sri Sai Productions through their film Hello Darling in 1976, went on to act in more than 300 films in Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil, apart from foraying into the fields of script writing, screen writing and direction.
